Does anybody have a borla system with the resonator removed? how does does it sound? Any rasp? How does it compare to the stock system without the resonator?

Resonator?

That big thing sitting where the res used to be is the muffler. The little cans out back might be classed as "resonators."

I don't think I'd mess with any of it. Why spend almost $600 on a system, if you're going to cut out the most expensive parts of it?

Just go custom, if you want something different. That's my 2 cents.

I thought of doing the same thing at one time, however I heard it is no good. And RogerB made a good point about the Cash.

Yes I did. Yes, more rasp.

RogerB, good point, but the Borla is barely louder than stock (std 2.5, dunno about SVT), that's why I did it. I probably wouldn't do it again, it doesn't sound terrible, but not as good either. When I added headers, bye bye ear drums! I added an 18" glasspack in there within a week.

Coincidentally, tomorrow I'm putting on a replacement of that section of the Borla kit, that piece was $170. It's an expensive chunk of the kit (muffler, hanger, flange, and 3 bends in the pipe). To avoid resonator/muffler confusion, I'm talking about the first piece, right behind the cat converter.

Remove the res....its pointless smile my .02 cents....also a little hint....also saves a little money...if you want to do Borla....go buy 2 XR-1 mufflers and two tips and than go to a muffler shop and ask them to put on the 2 mufflers and tips and remove the res....It is kinda raspy but after its heated up its gone...If i was doing it i would do it without Res smile
