I assume you do not have a new "mini" ps2 so you can get a hard drive. You can get the hard drive kit or get the net adapter and a large hard drive. I believe the program you want is called HDloader. Google it and I am sure you will find a community like this one.

I run games from my PS2 HD. As stated before, you need the original style PS2, the new ones don't have room for a hard drive.
You need a PS2 network adapter. Yes, a network adapter, that's what the hard drive hooks up to. Don't worry, you don't need to network anything. Should be about $40.
Then you need an IDE hard drive. An old hard drive you have laying around works fine, just keep in mind that most PS2 games are a couple gigabytes. I'd recommend at least a 60 or 80 gig drive.
Then you need HDLoader or HDAdvance. That is the software that lets you copy games to the hard drive. Once the game is copied you boot off the HDLoader CD and pick what game you want off the list. It's really nice not to have to switch CDs around. HDLoader should be about $35 if you can still find it. I thin HDAdvance is a newer program based on HDLoader.
Not every game works with HDLoader, but most do.

Ok I have a network adapter and the old style ps2. I also have a old hd thinking it is a 120 or so. So can I just get HDLoader or HDAdvance and hook up the old hd to my computer copy games to it and then hook it up to the ps2? Is it really that simple. If so I am pissed I have spent over $200 in rebuying games this year already. Does the HDAdvance work on american games all the info I can find on it is for Jap. version

I had just got done doing this to my PS2... i bought a IDE hard drive hooked it up with the network adaptor... then went to ebay bought HDadvance 2.0 for like $28... then all you have to do is put that disc in the ps2 and it will format the hard drive and then you'll have options of run, convert, delete, rename the games.. so just go to convert-put the game in and take like 20 min then u have a game on the hard drive

any IDE hard drive should hook right up to the back of the network adaptor the only thing you have to do to the connection is make sure the jumper on the back of the hard drive is set to master... and no you do not need a chip unnless you want to backup burned games onto the hard drive-or play burned dvds

there's a standard 40 pin ide connector on the network adapter, no chip needed. It's easy. Too easy... Originally posted by ZetecNinja: hey how are you guys hooking the network adapter up to the IDE drive? I thought u needed a special hard drive...anyone got any pics?
