This thread talks about my trading in the Tour but it's an odd feeling.

I had my Contour since 1998 so it was a member of the family. I could spot it in any parking lot, I knew the smell of engine fluctuation, I could tell when anything was amiss by the sound of the idle.

Weird but after 7 years there wasn't a whole lot I didn't know about how to keep my Tour on the road.

Now's she's gone! I traded her in. But the weird thing is, when I was getting the Buick, it wasn't going to be ready until Monday, so I figured I'd drive the Tour home and bring her back on Monday. But NO, they had sold it to a wholesaler PDQ so they gave me a loaner 2004 Grand Am (Actually a pretty darn nice ride!) So I had to empty my belongings right there and say goodbye right there on the spot!

Funny, the Tour is just a piece of metal, plastic & leather, but for 7 years I've had some big adventures in her. I feel like I've abandoned a member of the family, or an old friend......WEIRD!

Anyway, this site (CEG) has been an awesome site. You guys have been totally the best I've ever met! CEG has pulled my from the fire more than once on car upkeep & repair and I visit this site 10 times a day! Man I'm going to miss the Tour but 7 1/2 years is enough. Time for a new adventure!

Funny, but I went from a 95 to a 96. Big move huh! But to tell you the truth, a 1 year old used car that fits my needs is around 17-20K and I just can't justify paying 400 or so for 4 or more years! That just seems outrageous!

Thanks to all in CEG, I had a blast in this site. I loved every minute of it!!!!!!!

Nate

bye old girl!!!!

Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.

Yeah I missed my 90 Mustang GT so much that 2 cars later I had to get another one, a 1991 this time.

The CEG is definitely a great group, I see several "former Contour owners" here that keep hanging out even after getting other cars. You can be one of those guys.

Read the Troubleshooting forum a lot. That might help.

That would be one hell of a contour.

Actually if I somehow hit the lottery, a totally ground up, rebuilt Contour would be a toy to have. Modded to perfection as well.
