Well, I went and bought a brand spankin new IAC Valve... my car still idles alot... i've been told several things... the throddle valve (?), i got a bad product...or they didn't put it on right.. i went and got some sea foam, and carb shoke & throttle body cleaner. I guess if i can't find the problem, i'm gonna have to spare some money and hook it up to a computer to find the problem. any suggestions???

Thanks!

if you have a check engine light, head over to autozone and have them read the code for free... and get the actual code from them... but what was your problem origionally... and what engine and how many miles?

my car would make a "moosing" sound when it would first start up, then every now and then driving down the road... it would do it again, when i had my heater on it would idle on me... kinda skipping, on two occasions it did it so bad that it would lose power and i would have to shut it off, but it would start right back up, my check engine light has never came on. It's a V6 and 56,000 miles 2000 mercury mystique...i hope you can understand what im trying to explain, its better to say it then to write it Lol

Moosing explained Maybe the EGR port on the back of the throttle body is plugged?
Things I would look at doing:

Replace your plugs ( dealer only ones )
Replace your plug wires
Replace your air filter
Buy a Throttle body gasket ( remove and clean EGR passage )
Replace your fuel filter
Check all your vacume lines for leaks
Spray some carb cleaner around the intake when runing and see if engine speed increases....if it does...your intake plenum gaskets are leaking and need replacing.

I have found that a dirty air filter promotes the moose.
Do the fix, by installing a plug drilled out into the hose...it works.

ya well i'm coming to find out that i don't have the moose... my car don't make that gay sound anymore since i replaced the IAC Valve... i've read in another forum on here, that it's all coming down to the fuel pump or filter.
