The first time, My friend used an air powered cutting wheel, lots of sparks. When I did it again, I used a dremel with a diamond cutting wheel, not so many sparks.

Sawzall or even a hack saw will work, I can't justify spensing the money on a B&M because they don't make one for pre 98 tours. I suppose something custom could be made with a welder and an extra stock shifter, now I have another project to try:)

yeah, might as well. I don't think it hurts anything (of course someone who feels ripped off after buying one will say that it will damage your car.) You could always ask Ford, I don't think they make a short shifter for the MTX-75 so they probably won't lie.
