These are the new fine wire plugs.

They are the new Ford-recommended plug replacing the double plats previously specified.

If you want double plats, go with the Autolites.

Either is a fine choice.

All the Double plats I've seen---looking at the ground electrode facing the center electrode is small round cylintrical shape dot. Less than half the size of a pin head. On the rear bank plugs firing ground to the center the metal erosion is less with the platinum.
I'm wondering with the fine wire the underside of the ground electrode might be plated with platinum, might be cheaper than welding the platinum dot???
I'd be curious to give the fine wires a try in the rear bank, however no way I'm paying the ridiculous price at the dealer. Hi Hi.
Nothing on the Motorcraft site indicates one why or the other.
I guessing from the profit stand point platinum is only on the center electrode.
