I will have it looked at. Ford told the mechanic that put the cam sensor on that the dual overhead cams needs to be replaced to fix the problem. He said that he doesn't understand why. The car is just now 5 years old and has around 66,000 miles on it.

Could I have gotten a bad Cam Sensor? What else can make the Cam Sensor code be read?

I put my contour in the shop today. So far the mechanic says he thinks it might be the coil. On his machine it says there is multiple misfiring and also the cam sensor code. He is going to put on a new coil and replace the plugs and see what happens.

Is the mechanic going to replace the cam sensor too? Or have they already? It seems to me that if it's the camshaft position sensor then just replace it first thing. If it's a zetec, then it's like a $12 part.

It worries me what the ford mechanic said about replacing the dual overhead cams. I definately find out exactly what they are talking about before I'd let them do anything like that. Make sure you get as detailed info as possible and talk to different mechanics if you aren't sure about things, that helps sometimes. Hope you get it fixed soon!

The Mechanic replaced my coil and the plugs. He said that the coil had a burnt spot on the underside. He drove it and the light was off, but when he got back the CEL came back on and he said it was the Cam Sensor again. The first Mechanic that I took it to replaced the Cam Sensor. So after this one replaced the coil and the Code came back in, he looked at the Timing Belt. The belt was loose and had skipped time. He said that he could tighten it up and would probably last for a little while, but I would sooner or later need to have it replaced. So I told him while he had it tore apart to go ahead and replace it. Good thing, he said it had two spots that were messed up on it. So after he changed the belt, I was hoping it would be the end of the problems. The CEL is still on and the code is still there. So now he is going to check on the wiring today to see if he can find something there. I am hoping I will be bringing my contour home today fixed!!

GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!MY CONTOUR IS FIXED!!!!!!!!!!:o)
To make a long story short. The first mechanic I took it to replaced the cam sensor. The second one I took it to replaced the coil, plugs and timing belt. The CEL was still on. He said it was the flex plate. I took it to a different mechanic to check the flex plate out. He said that my timing belt was off a half of a notch. So he put it back in time and bingo, running awesome!!!!! Thanks for all the suggestions and help. )
