Just put in the new y-pipe and got out of the car the day after and heard a *fizzzzz* noise coming from underneath. I was thinking, "Oh sh*t...what did I do wrong!". I finally realized its water from the A/C dripping on the front part of the cat (on the top near the inlet holes). Will this cause premature rust? If so, what can I do to either prevent the water from hitting the y-pipe or to having the cat wear?

No harm will be done. The exhaust pipe is much stouter than that. Besides, it is made of stainless steel.

I can think of no car that does not has an A/C condensate drain, and much of that condensation ends up on the exhaust system of most cars.
