My problem is a little different. Every electrical thing in my car , on occasion, will pulse. Headlights, dome lights, the little check engine light that plagues me, and everything. I checked the voltage and it is coming out at 14.2 volts. So i think the voltage regulator is fine. I also checked a few grounds i could find and made sure they are all good. Is this a wiring harness problem?? anyone else had this happen??

Is there any common thread as to when it happens? Under acceleration, etc.? My harness problems manifested themselves when the engine twisted on its mounts, like under heavy throttle.

I havent found a single link. It is more noticeable at higher RPMS but still does it at idle, it just isnt as noticeable. Some times it pulses some times is dosent. At first i thought it was cold weather, but then i remembered it doing it when it was warmer so i got nothing..

I am having the same problem with mine, and it is NOT RPM dependent for me. I am confused and worried.

The only thing that I know is that the battery is low and according to my Ford dealer needs recharging. I am going to drive around today, but if it doesn't help, I will be buying a new battery.

Im having the same problems...only worse

On the highway my car died. The car was acting like there was a huge power drain. Lights slowly dimmed. THe engine started to struggle (even though I was at WOT).

I pulled over- waited 15min- started up the car (which was kinda sluggish).

If I kept the car @ 100KM/HR no problems...if I went faster...the light would start to dim and then the car would die.

Is this an alternator problem?

I have seen the problem but not in a contour before. It was the voltage regulator producing not enough or to much power. If it is producing to much or headlight will get bright then go back to normal.
