I think I would stay away from the friction modifier. I noticed that by using it the oil became less "sticky".
It seems counterintuitive to me to add something to the gears that is less likely to stay stuck to the rotating assemblies. I think as long as you don't have any shifting problems then you should stay away from friction modifier. If you have grinding or engagement problems then maybe add it one ounce at a time up to the "recommended" amount. I personally wouldn't put in more than 2 oz.
