Okay, I'm thinking about buying a chip for my 98 csvt. I'm kinda new at this stuff so I figured I better get some input from u guys first. I checked out the spmotorsports page, and they offer two kinds..the Diablo Sport Chip and the Superchip. They are the exact same price, so that doesn't eliminate either one. Do any of you have these, or recommend either one.

Thanks ahead of time!

While i was at the Ford Nationals i asked the SVT vendor what he thought on this subject. He clearly stated that i should get the Superchip. He said he's seen too many problems with rods being blown out of the side of the engine with the diablochip. Hope this answers your ?

I will be getting the superchip for my svt today or tomorrow depending on if my mechanic gets the programing instructions. I will let you know how it works. I dont know what price you can get it at but i paid $230.00 out the door.

I have done a lot of research on this topic, truely do the same, use the search function. Your code makes a huge difference in how much the chip does for your car. I was looking into them, but I decided to wait after looking through all the info I got for my particuliar code. Sometimes it is also a hit and miss thing. good luck and I hope this helps.

There have been problems with both chips, but the Diablo has more user controlled tunability. Diablo has a much better customer support group, and you can actually talk to someone that knows what the heck is going on instead of someone that Superchips hires just to answer phones and reads his/her answer off a cue card. That's just my two cents worth...

Thanks for the info guys...I'm kinda leaning more toward the diablo chip..I can get it from SPMotorsports for $225.00. Do you know of any place cheaper. Also how hard is it to install? and how much extra is that going to cost me?

One more thing..how do I figure out which code I have?

Order from CTAmotorsports.com ..tell em nyceboi sent ya! ;-)

To find out the code go under the passenger side door and look where the carpet meets the firewall. There you should see a metalic box being held by a white plastic clip. Remove the white clip with the proper tools and underneath you should see a four digit alphanumeric code. This is your ECU code.

When you actually get the chip you will have to remove the entire ECU box. There are two bolts holding the ECU in place. The one metioned earlier (Remove second) and the one that can only be accessed under the hood. Look behind the Power steering fluid and you will see the bolt you need to remove. The ECU will slip right out.

Once you know the PCM code, come back here and search for it to see if anyone else has had a chip for it. Maybe it was great, or maybe it had some "issues."

When you order, too, it's critical info for the retailer.
