Why didn't you just buy a Camaro in the first place?
Or one of those flashy V6 mustangs!

Seriously, thats probably the only thing you CAN BUY cheaply and mod cheaply to go 13's. People don't usualy buy CSVT's for that reason (well, some of us) The only thing that sucks about a 13 sec. camaro is its no fun to drive as a "daily driver".

Not to jack the thread or anything but there's this kid i know with a 98 CSVT. before i saw the car he explained it as being so fast. Anyway when i eventually say it, it had a strange and but ugly body kit on it ( I still can't figure out why people with SVT's will put a different body kit on it ) Anyway, when he popped the hood it was bone stock except for that colored hose from autozone, oh and an optima battery. This kid claimed he could see 12's! I told him to join CEG and make a post about how fast it is. For some reason he wont. Anyway this thread just reminded me of him and i needed to ramble. Back to the regularly scheduled program.

LOL! OMG, what an a$$-douche! 12's! In a stock '98 CSVT! What a retard!
But yeah, I did not buy my SVT to go at HYPER-SPEED, I bought it because it's the closest thing to a BMW (handling-wise) that I can afford; I love the leather interior, lots of internal room, power sunroof, I mean it's a luxury-sport sedan; I like it for the luxury as much as the sport. It's a good balance.
If you want a cheap, lightweight land-rocket, buy a Camaro or Mustang, or mod out a cheap Honda. But you won't have the luxury and solidness of a well-built car, or the excellent european-insired suspension, or the tight handling, and probably not the control of a front-wheel drive.
I showed my new silver frost/midnight blue 98 SVT to one of my friends who owns a pretty nice black V6 T-top Camaro, a special luxury edition for which he paid about $12,000. He climbed into the back seat and envied the leather, the body kit/ground-effects, and power sunroof, and immediately informed me, "Man... This is a SEX back seat if I've ever felt one... Damn, you're gonna have fun with this car..."
Yeah, baby. Luxury. That's what it's all about. Luxury, solid structure, and enough power to keep up, and entertainingly complex to drive.

So far there hasn't been any problems at all with it :::knocks on wood::: but I just can't stand not being able to modify the thing without spending tens of thousands of dollars just to reach 13's in the 1/4. Geeze just to push 7PSI boost would cost me about 5k for parts and labor. So in short, Do you think it is possible to sell the CSVT for about 7k OBO? I found a few online that are selling for between 6.5K and 12K. Pics of my car it's got 88k on the car and so far I havn't run into any parts that needed to be replaced.
How about you give me your SVT and $5k and I'll give you a Turbo SVT. Sound good?

If I were you and really loved the car I would hold on to it and mod it over time....3L, headers, catback.....yadadada. Nothing nicer then a tricked out CSVT.
I definately agree, nobody expects to see a Contour to Fly past you at 140 miles an hour... as opposed to a civic which EVERYBODY modifys.

But not many people expect a civic to fly by you at 140 either. I was in one going 130 and he stopped because he said things start to fall apart on his car if he goes faster than that.

OK, so how about this, I'll type up a list of 'cons' and you guys right up a list of 'pros'. Maybe this will even out my oppions. Now to start my list of cons: 1) I'm an asian who gets made fun of at my automotive school for driving a ford. (I could care less, but it is still a con) 2) Parts are hard to fix or replace(ie. Alternator, control arm (those two i have done before and took a while, especially the alternator) 3) More luxury than sport 4) Mod Parts are expensive (ie. Turbos, full exhaust systems), especially for a full time student who works at a place like Jamba Juice. 5) Fords engines often don't last as long as import engines (such as hondas, toyotas) 6) A 4 cylinder Integra GSR can keep up with a few mods 7) Resale is bad (longer I keep it, the harder it will be to sell) 8) No one knows what it is 9) Cars 5th gear doesn't pull very hard 10) Not much room to work with in the engine area. 11) Cup holders SUCK!!! 12) If car is sold, performance parts are hard to resell to other people. I'm way to tired to think at the moment, but please, do respond, I'd love to hear what people have to say.
