Here's the conclusion to the story:
I dropped the car off on last Thursday and they completed the whole alignment process again, including re-centering the steering wheel. They called me and said they would also leave the alignment statistics this time to show that everything was within specifications. I picked it up and sure enough it was now right! All the persistance fortunately paid off! The wheel is now centered correctly and the car drives straight as an arrow. It just goes to further show that the Ford service technician was giving a bunch of excuses instead of simply saying they would fix the problem. If the steering wheel could never be straightened again, as he had said, why were they able to correct it and bring it back to center? Nonetheless, fortunately all is well now and the car is as good as new. I will be sending this thread along with a letter of both commendation and dissatisfaction to Enfield Ford: Commendation because most of the people working there were willing to listen to my complaints and get the car right, after bringing it back three times. Dissatisfaction because of the way the one individual service person was both rude, condescending, and unwilling to listen with an open mind to the concerns of the customer.
Thanks for all the help everyone!
