My 98 LS came with fine wires single platinums and lasted only for 18K miles. The rear bank fires reversed ( ground to the center electrode) the bank needs double plat's, only because you can't get single platium on the ground strap electrode only. Even with the double platinum those rear bank plugs still wear faster than the fronts. Been nice to had the coil over the plug COP we wouldn't be having so many problems.
Even with the double platiums after 20k the rears start having minors misfires. Wish I could remember the parameter on Alex Peppers scan tool I used, it wasn't avaiable until a year or so ago. Actually it's a Ford test, Alex's software update made it available. Anyhow I swapped the same plugs front & rear. Ok then. Last summer I did that, having felt checking ugly winter this year. Drivability was never a problem, MPG drops off. 1-4 mpg more for the orginal fine wires.

I just happened to get the Motocraft at Autozone before quite carrying them. AGSF32PPM in 2002 when I replaced them Autozone didn't show this as the correct plug, they still showed and may still show the fine wire? This plug was spec'd for my brothers F-150 w/4.6l and I noticed it was the same exact size , 32 same heat range and double platinums.
Parts guy at my dealer said they will cross and Ford was in the process cutting the number of plugs offered.
I have yet to check but I'll probalbly go with the Autolites soon. I was thinking the size of the platinum dot was tad bit larger than on the Motorcraft ground electrode?
Steve I just checked the Motorcraft link I see they are even pushing the fine wire for the 4.6l. Nothing says there is platinum on the ground electrode??? Or is "F" a single and the "FE" the double????
