well if those "few" mods include a turbo then "maybe"[/b]have you ever been in a MTX Zetec before??? I would guess NO... or in a modded ATX Zetec? I have seen Duratec SE's run 17's at the track and under bad conditions I still got a 16.8 in a few weeks I will be back at the track and I would guess mid to low 16's I will be running and no I don't have a turbo and with all the aftermarket parts out there for the Zetec look at Esslinger for one they have a ZX2 normally aspirated running 9's in the quarter what duratec can do that??? or what duratec can do that with a turbo or a SC????

I see no Duratecs coming close.

Wow, it never ceases to amaze me how high-and-mighty some of the Duratec 'tards here think they are. Yes, your 'tours came with more HP stock. Big friggin' deal. I can quote you numbers from my minivan that are better than yours; so stuff it.
You obviously know very little about the Zetec engine if you're calling it a dog. Sure, it doesn't appear to be anything great coming from the factory, but it can be awakened quite easily. All it takes is some thought about what you're doing. It suffers from many of the same slumps the Duratec has - namely off-the-line acceleration. Don't bag it too much; how well do your cars stand up to others in the class? Hmmmm?
Quoting 0-60 and 1/4 times and calling it done are a simpleton's way of looking at it. Am I stuck with an engine that's only worth a damn above 7k RPMs? Nope. Do I have TQ in comparison to other 4-bangers of similar displacement? Yep. Is my car quite a fun little ******* from a roll? Yep. If you put one of the almighty  1.6L Honda motors in a Contour how well do you think it would do?
****! Looks like I missed the bandwagon again...
125.2 FWHP - 126.5 FWTQ SVT exhaust (#4 of 9) - B&M FPR - Custom CAI - bnoon optimized TB #1 & 2 (beat that!!) Black '98.5 SE Zetec MTX Best quote seen in a chat - "Jinx 12345678910 you owe me a naked picture of yourself!"

Heh, I need to "awaken" my vetec soon...I think I'm going to spend some money on a cd player first... but I know eventually I'll attempt some cheap mods
