Well, I'm a pretty smart guy, and I had not heard of the gross "normal" variation in perch height. I find it a bit unbelievable, but worth checking, I suppose.

I don't think you'd have this problem with Konis.

And, no, I don't recommed using the KYB with lowering springs, scattered anecdotal evidence of so-and-so's friend with such-and-such car notwithstanding.

But I have held the belief that KYB makes a quality strut for my minivan, or for someone with a Contour LX or GL who values ride quality over "sport."
