They couldn't pass me on the straightaways either unless I let them and I wasn't blocking. May not be very powerful but with some mods... Don't knock it until you try it.

There are VERY powerful NA I-4s everywhere.. Granted, the 2.0 Zetec isn't one of them.. [/b]in a stock weight contour, an unmodified I-4 is most certainly a dog. i never made mention of another car. perhaps i should have said, "YOUR CARS ENGINE IS NOT POWERFUL" and left it at that. especially fords 2.0/2.3L platform. the newer I-4 offerings are a tad better, mainly the DOHC duratec thats being used now. honda four cylinders are anomalies and works of engineering art. the S2000 for example, pushes way past the 'perfect numbers' of 100 hp/liter. but i dont see any 2.0-2.3L ford engines doing that aside from the circle track racers. basically, all i meant was that the engine in his car is not the best.

Ford is working on its HP figures for the 2.0L Zetec. Ever hear of the SVT Focus? 170HP 2.0L Zetec? For about $20,000. Lets see if they charged $10,000+ more for the car I'd bet they could easily get 250HP too.

i was replying to svt kris' statement about hondas and their power levels. i agreed that honda engines are very powerful for their size, especially the 2.0 found in the S2000. not to you. dont bring up price in this deal: were talking about factory fast from the showroom. a 170 hp zetec is perky, but in a full weight focus it isnt a barnstorming dragster or a highway demon. drop that zetec into a car with a curb weight similar to a S2000 and it still wouldnt reel one of those in. the S2000 wasnt made for torque. its a topend racer. ever driven one??? i know people with 1999+ mustang GTs that have been taken down on the highway by S2000s. theyre a ball to play with after about 5000 rpms. and trust me, if youre running it the tach doesnt go below 5000 rpms! youre trying to compare apples to oranges by stating a price difference. if you wanted to do that i would say that so far, including buying he car the 2nd engine, my SVO has cost me less than $4,000. wanna race? but then, that wouldnt be fair matchup because im turboed right? ugh, yeah its not too powerful. i wish i could do some mods... its a fine car, it handles well, i really dont expect to racing in it though anyways...heh, unless i see a minivan. FEAR THE MINIVANS!!!

Apples and oranges is comparing the engine in a S2000 to a stock Zetec in a Contour. Price DOES come into play. If you want to spend $30,000+ on a Honda S2000 that is fine. But with the same $30,000 you could easily have a Svt Focus whooping S2000s. That is my point. You may have spend $4,000 on your SVO, fine. You could whoop on a lot of cars for cheap. But that was never the issue. If you are going to compare engines you have to compare the prices too. Why do you think they compared the new Si with the SVT Focus? Same price same size engine (2.0L) and who won...Ford. Enough said.

ummm my Zetec isn't that bad... I have had a few people think it was a V6 contour yes compleatly stock they are slow but add a few mods and it can hang with a v6 tour.
Joe Hartley "yes I know it's a MTX Zetec but it beats having a ATX Duratec" Champagne 96 GL MTX some mods dynoed at 114.2whp and 124.4wtq (pre CTA intake) 16.858 @ 80.76mph (yes it's slow but still faster than D Davis) AIM: ZetecRacing My Site My Profile
