That's the purpose of the V8 model. That was the only thing I was trying to point out not only to you, but to a lot of the other people that seem to be bashing the V6. The V6 is for people that want a boulevard cruiser like the Thunderbird, not a drag racer. They like the looks, but know the performance will kill them as far as insurance, if not literally when they wrap the dang thing around a tree at a buck fitty.

The downside to the desire to own a car that looks fast is that the owners tend to think they are fast.

I guess I'm blind to this, because a vast majority of the V6 Mustang owners I've seen are women. Those Mustang owners that are male were smart enough to go for the GT, in which their bragging rights are in every sense of the word correct.

I see your point, as it was valid the first time I saw it. I just get a little tired nowadays with more and more of this website converting over to the Mazda factor and committing the crimes that you guys are accusing the V6 Mustang owners. But to compare them to every other car that comes across these boards starts to sound ridiculous when it comes down to a Ford Mustang vs. Mazda 6. For all that, you should've gone all out and said the MS6 is going to be on par with the Mustang GT. Right?

Just to illustrate my point, I'm going to pick two vehicles at random: let's go with the Subaru Forester XT and Lotus Elise. They run times similar or quicker than the Mustang GT, but when in casual conversation, one wouldn't think to toss in a turbocharged sport utility vehicle or an oversized go-kart into the gene pool of a rubber-burning, not too practical RWD performance car. The same holds true for the lesser V6 model: When talking about it, one doesn't usually look across the street and go, "Oh, wow...it never occured to me that the Mazda sedan over there is quicker than this Mustang I'm about to buy." Reason being is that a Mustang seeker isn't going to give a sedan any thought because the Mustang carries 42 years of well-known history that none of the sedans will be noted for. Hell, if Ford didn't make the Mustang, this potential example buyer likely wouldn't even be on a Ford dealer parking lot. This is because people buy the Mustang because of the name, not because of what it can do.

I do apologize for going off though, as one day when I do get around to driving the bloated 6, I might see this light everyone else talks about so fluently. (I drove a 3 already and it was an excellent machine, but I didn't feel it was any faster than my old ATX Contour, and THAT was definitely not a Mustang contender.) I really shouldn't talk it down as much as I do.

Thank you. I'm blushing.

Get one thing straight -- I like the Mustang.

I saw this the first time you said it. That went out to others who did not give a legitimate reason for their opinion on the V6. I guess I should've clarified it better by quoting them as well. My mistake.

But I think this thread is about done, don't you?

PS: Be sure you read that part where I apologized. Reading it all over again, I feel pretty bad about it now.
