On my 96 GL, I had to get new headlights (BIG difference than the originals, first off) due to an accident.
Still didn't like the output, so I put some Silverstar high beams in the low beams when I was in Texas. TONS of output (not as bright as the high beams, though... I'm assuming it has to do with the with reflector and lens), but I still got flashed. Had the same cop flash me twice, but I just flashed him back and it was all good.

I put silverstar 9005s in my low beam slot. All I had to do was dremel out the tabs that stop you from putting it in. Hold onto the bulb, really tight, with gloves, and carefully dremel the tabs out. All of 2 mins work. Looks awsome.

I never understood why everyone says you need to dremel the bulb a little bit. I got mine to fit with no problem. Just a little playin around with the bulb when installing it and it went in just fine without ever doing anything to the bulb.

Me too... but if you don't get them to seat properly they won't be centered, so the beam will be way off. Best way to install them is at night against a wall so you can see the pattern.

Plus, it looks kinda cool to cuz the whole headlight assembly is shining light.
That's kind of dumb because you can't take full advantage of the high beams when you need them.
Thats true.
absolutely agreed, was driving on mountain rods yesterday, and LA has been recently hit with alot of rain, almost no visibility without highs on.

I tried swithing my bulbs tonight had every thing required even new hi beam sockets to replace the low beams with so the new bulbs would plug in like factory. I couldn't get the bulb to seat properly, the hole is bigger than the high beams. What did every one use to fill the gap. The head light would have fallen right out of the hole it was so lose.

After I dremeled mine, I put them into the stock low beam slot. I had a little bit of trouble fitting them in, but they popped in w/ a screwdriver helping them. Opposite of being too loose though.

Mine fit fine when I did it.
Just remember that if you change the postion of the filament with respect to the parabolic reflector (even by 1mm or so) you can alter the beam pattern and output significantly!
