The black roof and hood on my 2000 contour is starting to crack, or spider.
I think a 5 year old car should be covered.
Am I alone?
My Nissan lasted years with good paint.
I'm a bit po'd about it, anyone else have the same?

I hate to tell you , Ford put too much paint on the cars. In many cases Ive notice when repairing the contours paint, that they had to factory applied paint jobs. Too much paint= cracking. It is a common proble with the darker colors due to sun having an effect on this issue. I seriously doubt any Ford dealership will fix this. Good luck trying.

Paint warranty is only 3years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first.

You can ask to see if they are willing to help you with a goodwill repair, but don't hold your breath. If they do, expect to pay a large co-pay.

It doesn't hurt to ask. It may help to get some other estimates first. If Ford does step up to help with paint this late, they usually won't paint the whole car, just the panels that have the problem.
