SOP's are "small outline packages" meaning micro-miniature soldering was the method of soldering.

Nothing to bother your decision about... just means that the components on the chip itself are physically smaller, and will leave more "blank space" on the printed circuit board.

Sooo... does that mean that this specific memory (as listed above by Pigeon) will work in my PC?

Andy W. The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

The total with shipping and tax on those Crucial modules is $151. The memory on the Fry's page is Kingston's ValueRAM line. I'm wondering if the extra $45 (after the rebate on the Kinston) is worth it...

I've personally run Kingston ValuRAM in my computer for a couple years without any problems. Plus, it comes with a lifetime warranty so no concens about that. I wouldn't hesitate to get it again.

Why do you need a gigabyte of memory? If you buy a 512MB stick and slot it next to the 256MB stick you'll be 70 some dollars ahead, you won't have the 256 laying on your desk doing nothing and you'll be happy with the speed increase that you get. Try it, you have nothing to lose except the pictures you'll be sending me!

Very good point - I suppose the question is what do you use the computer for? I think 512MB is enough for average use, and you can usually pick up a stick of 256MB for under $30 after rebate from one or another big box retailer. If you're doing photo editing, video editing, etc. you'll probably want all the ram you can afford.
