There are sixteen 32Megabyte chips on there, for a total of 512MB.
I think 4 banks is reminiscent of the old days with 30 pin ram (1 bank each, 8 bit). 72 pin was 2 bank each, and 168+ are 4 bank each (I'm guessing at least...).
