Can someone explain 7.1 surround sound. I know the speaker placement in 6.1, so where would the other speaker go? I'd post my setup, but people would laugh. Decent receiver, but my Bose center channel and rears are 7-8 years old and the fronts are rca bookshelf speakers that came off of a crap radio. AND I have no sub, which blows. But I did get a 24" Toshiba Flat Screen TV for $100

I thought that was 5.1 and 6.1 has a rear center...lf, center, rf, lr, rr = 5 speakers?

I need to repalce my subwoofers. I've got up to $1000 including box materials to spend. I already have an amp I don't want to replace, 500wx2 into 4-ohms, or 1000x 8ohm mono. I'm thinking about a pair of Ave 15 drivers in the recommended 2.2cu ft boxes. Maybe buy a BFD if I need to help <30Hz. Any opinions?
