Another question that is good for this thread - How can I make the stock speakers good for home use? I read something about it one day, but I don't remember. I don't have anything else to do with these things, and I'm bored so how do I go about it? Also anyone got a tut on making a home sub? My setup is lacking without one, and since i have a couple of 10"s laying around, i wondered if I can make them useful, if possible

Oh whoops, i see the joke now...
And all i did was put a 10" car sub in a custom box and wired it up to my receiver, which powers the sub. I don't know what you'd do if you need to externally power the sub/s.

Originally posted by APT: I need to repalce my subwoofers. I've got up to $1000 including box materials to spend. I already have an amp I don't want to replace, 500wx2 into 4-ohms, or 1000x 8ohm mono. I'm thinking about a pair of Ave 15 drivers in the recommended 2.2cu ft boxes. Maybe buy a BFD if I need to help <30Hz. Any opinions?
They are good, but I already had that matched with my $325/pair Dayton's. I'm interested in either more output or smaller enclusures and I'd rather build my own again. I'm thinking either two Ave 15's or 4 Dayton DVC 15's this time.
id love to get some polk rear speakers, but this should do for now.
btw, that bose vcs-10 in the first post, GET RID OF THAT PLEASE. i had it, fiddled with the equalization settings for over an hour to try and make it sound ok, but it just sucks. get the polk csi5, well worth the extra $200, sounds incredible.
next year my goal is a 55" sony rear lcd wega and those polks rears, then maybe an amp, but that's overkill for my little dorm room setup
