Ha, reminds me of my college setup which was my old Kenwood component system. Used to put the speakers up to the window and blast the quad. The girls would try to turn up their boomboxes and their Spin Doctors, but my trusty Kenwood would let the Alice in Chains cut through

Onkyo HT S770
Same one of my buddies has. For the money its hard to beat it. He paid around the same price as you plus another $60 for another sub and the sound quality is awesome!

$500 bucks isn't a bad deal for an Onkyo home theatre in a box setup....i mean, I paid over $500 for my Yamaha reciever and that didn't come with any speakers or wiring

All of you guys suck. I have a Sony STR-DE835, but I have a makeshift speaker setup. Bose Center Channel and rears (from like 95) and two RCA bookshelf speakers from like 98. I want to get a subwoofer, but I'm sure someone could point me to a home subwoofer tutorial...
...or to a cheap 5.1 speaker package, minus the receiver

No pics unfortunately, but I have a Sony STR-DE835 reciever, powering Cadence XT1 speakers as mains, XS1 speakers as rears, and center. I also have another four Cadence MTM tower speakers that aren't being used currently. No sub as of yet, but my intention is to build a Autotuba horn sub powered by an old, but bullet proof Technics amp.

Sorry for all you Sony reciever owners out there As far as I am concerned....the only superior product they manufacture are televisions. I can help you pick out a subwoofer if you want....just PM and make sure to tell me how much you are looking to spend, room size and what qualities you look for (i.e. sound quality, loud, a mix of both, etc)

Well now the sites back up I'll take some pics in the morning of all the wire running through my house. We laid about 370ft of 10awg in the walls for multi-zone stereo output from the Yamaha RX-V2400. With that receiver I can play three different sources in three different rooms. not to mention the 1200ft of CAT5 and RG6, gotta have Cable and SAT TV in the Garage baby

Athena Home Theatre System 6.1 :
6 speaker boxes total (2 front towers left and right, 1 front center, 2 back boxes left and right, 1 rear center, and 1 sub: - 2 huge towers (2 8in subs in each tower + seperate speaker for highs) - 10in Sub - Powered by Yamaha HTR-5750 Receiver - Pioneer DV-563A DVD, MP3, Photoviewer, and RW compatable all in one.
I dont think I have to say how loud and amazing it sounds. Can't remember last time I paid to see a movie in a theatre.

Well, how cute & dainty! Then again, I don't live in a dorm.
Must be that jumbly-wumbly thing happening again.

Heres mine. Its all pretty much SONY ES as of most of it including the 32" TV. So is my PC is all SONY with the 17" LCD display as well. I JUST LOVE SONY! Speakers of the HT are all Boston Acoustic VR series with the 12" Sub hidden behind my leather sofa. Spent almost $9000 for the entire system plus another $800 of Monster Cable wires. Of course, I didnt spend it all at once. Took a few years to get it all together. Believe it or not I still have my Pioneer LD player, however, it plays DVD at the same time. My next plan is a Sony 40" plasma HDTV. -dan
