I am using an Eclipse amp, model 3422 I believe. It puts out 150w x 2, with each channel going to a crossover, then split to the components. IIRC, Madisound charged a $30 design fee and $30 per crossover, so around $90 total. Not cheap, but at the time I knew absolutely nothing about crossovers and I wanted something designed specificaly to the speakers I had. You only need a 2 channel amp if you are going to use a passive x-over, so the tweets won't be getting the same amount of watts as the mids, so 100w-125w per side should be fine.
I have never used an active x-over, so I no suggestions regarding that.
