Further, the concept is also to facilitate an interchangeable parts bin for the non-SVT owner who wants to convert his or her car to an SVT (in varying degrees).
For example, you could convert a stock 98+ Contour in to an SVT by swapping out all the individual parts (while stupid and mostly a waste of time) it can be done. This can be done to the Mustang GT, F-150 Flareside, Focus ZX3.
Can't remember if the Cobra R was an SVT or not but I think it was the only SVT that had a different chassis than the stock car it "upped", the SVT Cobra.

it is cheaper to buy the SVT product also. I don't think I'd take a Mustang GT and then swap the handbuilt 4.6 four-cam, 32 valve motor, and the IRS. It'd be cheaper for me to buy the Cobra outright.
The SVT Contour has a different set of cams, as well as pistons to bump compression, so there again, SVT is the better purchase.
