The car only has 47k on it, but a while back it did sit for over a year so I guess the sensors could be on their way out. What are you saying is 28 bucks, the coolant temp sensor?

Also, as far as changing one at a time isn't bank 1 the ones up front and then bank 2 the ones in the back?

No kidding? I think I need to get a new one, mine seems to have a intermintent problem, reads 199-208 degrees F even on a cold engine. Not all the time, intermintently.

Ok, well I think I am gonna replace the coolant temp sensor and go from there. Where is the sensor located? I haven't looked around for it yet, but I figured it would be easier if I had an idea when I was searching for it.

Thanks again guys

Sweet, thanks. I am gonna tackle that one tomorrow as long as the snow isn't too bad.

Same problem, replaced BOTH sensors and did a hard (battery disconnected) ECU reset and everything is fine.......

What do you mean by BOTH O2 sensors? There are 4 O2's in the car. I am gonna change the ECT sensor tomorrow and if that doesn't fix the problem I may have to try the O2 sensors and just want to make sure that I replace the likely ones.

Two general comments here.

Almost always when both oxygen sensors read either rich or lean, it isn't the sensors that are faulty. Look elsewhere for the actual cause. There are other things that can cause rich readings.

Only the upstream oxygen sensors have any impact on running rich or lean. The downstream oxygen sensors only have to do with the cat monitors as I recently posted on another thread.

Yea the O2 sensors are the last things that I would think it would be. I have tried many other things though to try and fix the problem. So far I have checked the fuel pressure, replaced the MAF, cleaned the TB, replaced the PCV valve and checked for apparent vacuum leaks. Today I am throwing in a new ECT sensor, so if that doesn't fix the problem I am not sure what else to check.....

ECT sensor is about halfway down on the rear driver side of the engine. It screws in so the wiring connector faces the firewall. If you put your chin on the shock tower and look down under the throttle & cruise cables, you can barely catch a glimpse of the copper part that screws into the engine.

Hope you have tough and flexible hands & arms.
