That depends on whether you buy into the reverse cone idea or not. I personally like my reverse cone S+B Big Mouth, but others have complained of turbulence issues. The reverse cone filters tend to whistle much more (at least mine have). I believe that this is common, right (anyone)?

OK, looking at that pic it looks like SHO-Shop is using the same K&N that I am (though mine may be a bit longer?). Anyway, I can say that on the dyno the K&N was worth 1-2 HP over KKM (with both in a custom cool airbox) but only between 6K and 7K RPM. Not likely to notice that difference but since they are throwing in a heat shield for the money I would favor the SHO-Shop intake. No reports of K&N collapsing at high RPM (like KKM) either.

Has anyone proven that the KKM actually "Collapses" from suction? I truly believe that it is the pressure on it from the fender well and the MAF. It is being crushed between the two. If the filter dose not contact both sides, it doesn't crush. I am thinking IMHO that it would take more than a mere 180 FWHP car to implode a conical filter... ($0.02)

I saw it first hand on the dyno.

I have a nice dyno graph to prove it. wink

Okay, here i am again. I considered both the KKM and sho shop cold air. Even the BAT with the remote air intake. I was actually going to go with the BAT, but i noticed it is a little too pricey for me. So i then compared the sho shop, and the kkm. I then just realized i might as well go with the sho shop because it has a heat shield. Only because i don't want any future problems with heatsoak. I mean heatsoak shouldn't be too much of a worry, especially since i'm always moving on the road, but it was a just in case kinda thing. As for the KKM, i really didn't think that even though it was closed at the fender would make much of a difference if it was closed or not. And as i said, performance numbers isn't what i wanted. It was more like a save in gas. Just my .02.

by the way, there is a slight kick than what i used to have. Not much of a difference, but it was enough to be noticed. Especially with over 400 lbs of added weight in my trunk.

Give me more beer and CEG before i get depressed!

black_98.5_SVT, you made a decision yet? laugh wink

I'd say the ShoShop setup is a good one, but their service (so I've heard) is less then one would expect.

I have the SHOshop and I love it. I would say get it. The heat shield is an obvious advantage and also you get a great sound if thats what you're after. It's an easy install too. Let us know what you go for.
