Now i know it works for CA, OR, WA, and NV....But i do not know anyone who has done it in any other states.

So I'm guessing this doesn't work in CA?

iv done it here in Ca personally on all the tickets i ahve gotten since i found out about it, and they did not show up on my record. I even had my insurance company take a look.

No like i said, with exception of the states i mentioned, i do not know if they work anywhere else...I have friends and family in these states and they do it all the time.

So like i said, it works here, and the mentioned above, but i do not know about anywhere else...it was just a suggestion any way, so why get bent out of shape? it works for me, whos to sya it may not work else where...and like 5 bucks is going to hurt...

That whole thing is a load of crap and one of the oldest hoaxes on the Internet. It's been around for almost 10 years. If you send money over the amount the State gladly keeps the extra.

On Snopes

Quote:

You can overpay your traffic ticket if you like, but the only result will be that you'll contribute some extra money to the general revenue fund.

According to the National Motorists' Association via TruthorFiction:

Quote:

"We have had our members, activists, and lawyers look into this. None have been able to find a place where this will work."

According to HoaxInfo (which specifically mentions California law)
Quote:

regulations for several states to see how this process works and in both cases, North Carolina and California, it states that points are assessed ON CONVICTION. I could find no evidence that any state waits for "all financial transactions to be completed".

Why would they wait for all financial transactions to be complete when law enforcement doesn't do this with other crimes. When you are convicted of being drunk and disorderly do they wait to update your records after you've spent your 10 days in jail and paid your $500.00 fine? If we are to believe this e-mail then if we constantly broke the traffic laws and never paid any of the fines at all, and if we could stay one step ahead of the sheriff we'd maintain a perfectly clean driving record.

If it's worked in the past for you, that's great for you. I've gotten speeding tickets that the officer just never turned in. I know lots of people who have paid fines only to get warrants for not paying them. Things slip through the cracks. Just because there's no record doesn't mean it's because you overpaid.

I cannot debate with info in return, only form my experience and the experience of friends and family members...given your proof is extensive, i am not quite willing to give up just yet, only because it has never failed me.

If you can't afford to pay the ticket all at once, just send a little bit at a time. So long as you are making the effort to pay them they won't hassel you too much.
Once you send in some of the money, a month or two later youll get an overdue notice. Then send them a little more money.
Just make sure you send french money.

WOW....what an overwhelming number of responses in such a short period of time.

I guess the bottomline is no one really know what the law says exactly regarding speeding tickets in Canada. If only someone in this forum works for the DMV...

Got one back in 2002 for doing close to 160 km/h. Never paid it... But they did call me (collections) like 5 times a day for over a year and a half...
