I just joined the board and was wondering if any of you guys have replaced the valve body cover gasket on your trans? I own a 95 Contour GL and have a leaky gasket. I am planning to replace it with a new one within the next few weeks.

If anyone has performed this, is there anything special that I need to know? The job looks pretty simple. It looks like I can reach all of the bolts after I remove the battery and battery tray.

This is no big deal. You will have to loosent the a/c drier housing (two screws) and move it out of the way to get the pan out. You don't have to disconnect it. You may want to install a shift correction kit since you have the cover off. You can purchase it from www.bulkpart.com

How difficult is the kit to install? I just use my contour as a daily driver (no performance driving at all). The car has @160k miles on it.

I appreciate the responses!

This is not a performance kit. This is a kit to ensure you don't end up needing a atx rebuild.. It corrects problems with the cheap ford parts. If you can take your upper and lower intake manifolds off for cleaning, etc. you should be able to do this...... Kit has complete instructions.
