IMHO - everyone should just throw out there 12 point sockets. I've found that as long as a bolt isn't so bad that you can't get a good 6 point on it (albeit with a hammer) you'll be okay. I've sheared bolts with "fully rounded" heads after banging the good tools on them. Of course getting it back out of the socket can be fun......

Brad - does that craftsman tool really work? Maybe I'll throw one into the set, "Just tell em Brad Noon sent 'ya"

I've got one and it seems to work great. Takes a bit of clearance to get on bolts/nuts is it's only drawback. Keeps me from searching for the right sized socket without rounding off the head. Even works on nuts/bolts that are to rounded off for the side grip wrenches that don't use corners at all. Got it when the Ford dealership saw fit to strip out the oil drain plug and not replace it.

My dad borrowed the socket and hasn't returned it yet... Darn parents, always borrowing stuff and never returning it... and they never call unless they need something... laundry, money, tools...

Something else that might help is the BNM workout video. Those at SZ02 saw it... Contour frame squat lifts... 1.... and 2.... and 3... laugh

"We are here to PUMP YOU UP!"

For the little guys (like me), T = F x d is your friend; get as far from that bolt as you can. A breaker bar can never be too big, unless you don't have the clearance.

Took it to the exhaust shop today. Post-cat flanges were heated, bolts were punched through, new bolts added. Rear bank nuts were heated and removed. New nuts added. Everything was done fast and cleanly. I could have had them install the new pipe while it was on the lift, but wheres the fun in that...? laugh

Goes back on the jack stands tomorrow... smile

Also, there is a nut attached to a bracket that is welded to the stock y-pipe that holds the pipe against the frame (underside of car). This nut is just to the right of the rear banks section and requires a deep socket to unscrew. My question is - What size socket is needed to unscrew this nut?

Thanks for the help, much appreciated! Well the stock y-pipe is off, resting on a skateboard outside my garage. I tried putting the two manifold pipes into the cat and found out the cat inlets are "ovaled" slightly. So, theres no way to adjust the angle & length of the pipes under the car since they dont go into the cat very easily. Will have to make a trip tomorrow to BAT to have them swap out the pipes and cat for ones that will slide in and out more easily (like Eric demonstrated at BAT).
