This has been my experience with exhaust on this car and on rasp:
Removed Resonator, installed dynomax Ultraflow: High-pitched 'farty' sound. Moderate drone.
Added dynomax bullet: Killed the rasp, but only some of the drone. Overall pretty quiet, but still a bit high-pitched.
Replaced with YoDude 2.5" quasi-dual exhaust and YoDude y-pipe w/o cat. Flowmaster 40-series in resonator position no rear mufflers: Very, very loud. Extremely deep, agressive tone at low rpms that fell apart at higher revs, becoming "brappy" above 4000rpm.
Replaced muffler with 50-series delta flow. Still some rasp above 5500rpm, but much quieter inside and out.
Replaced stock y-pipe and cat. Overall sound was down, rasp was gone, but drone was even worse than before. Overall, this was the best sounding setup I've had, but it was ruined when some 17-year-old girl rear-ended me.
Borla single (different from the Contour's, with 2.0-inch pipe): Sounded pretty much stock inside, and slightly louder outside when floored. I never really liked the sound, but there wasn't much to complain about because it was so quiet.
Add MSDS headers: Some minor Drone popped up again, and the car's exhaust became much more noticable. It was a little higher pitched, but still sounded pretty good. For the first time, I actually felt the increase in power.
Gutted main cat: The drone was actually reduced, but outside the car, I had very loud "gutted-cat-sound." It sounded like marbles in a tin can -- as if there were still parts of my cat floating around, but there weren't any. I actually did feel a power gain from this.
Put straight-pipe through the gutted cat: Gutted cat rasp gave way to a louder higher-pitched and more "ricey" sound than before. It's still a bit deeper than most Integras or Eclipses, but it's the same type of sound when under load. I felt even more of a power gain, though, so I don't regret this...
