I used the same spray adhesive I used for carpeting my box. I was doing the adhesive in my basement not in the car so it made it very simple. I had the gauge assembly on the table and i just sprayed the adhesive on the back of the overlay...waited about a minute untill it was tacky then put it on. Repeated the steps for all four. The spray adhesive is repositional/permanent bonding, depending on how much you put on. Even a whole lot really wont be permanent anyway. I just put a light-medium coat on the back of the overlay and pressed on. It will come off w/out any difficulty if need be..its really not a permanent kind of bond at all. To be more descrptive, it basically mimiced the 3M sticky tape that was on the HVAC and HL. VERY thin layer, sticky, but not OVER sticky. Im very satisfied w/ the results.
