Thanks Dustyn!!
I'm on summit's site now and see the RAM.. looks pretty nice.. I originally wanted to get all the parts from spmotorsports cus I figured they would give me a deal. I'm also wanting to spring for some euro side marker lights and a B&M short throw shifter. Is the RAM clutch that you are referring to for street and strip? I just want something slightly above the OEM clutch. I'm not going to race it at all nor beat the crap out of it. I just want to make sure I'm buying the right clutch for my needs..
I would absolutely appreciate your insight on this.. If you can, you can call me at work or I can call you. I want to put this order in today if possible. 708-534-2555 x42204 - Todd

todd, The ram clutch holds 30% percent over stock clutch. The number for the clutch is ram-98910. The clutch comes in a kit with everything you need including alignment tool. On the fidanza flywheel just do a search like in and it will pull up a host of dealers. They can all get the same flywheels. I did a price match with nippon. I showed them the price that sp could get it for and they said that they could match it. you will bassically get it at the same price but a few weeks sooner and less hassel. Joe is a good guy he just needs some more people underneath of him to help out. If they say uhhhh we got one for a cougar but not a contour its the same thing so just an fyi. If you need anymore help just let me know

Well I ordered the flywheel, euro lights and B&M shifter for $575 shipped. That about the same I would find anywhere else.
Question, is the RAM HD 98910 have a full Kevlar surface or just a % of Kevlar?
Summit is out of those clutches. I'm searching for other dealers, any other suggestions?

just go to ramclutches.com to find out all of the specs. As far as other places to get the clutch I have no idea. You will probably pay more if you go with someone else. I also ordered from summit it took a few weeks. I figured they will start stocking them by now.

You can buy direct through RAM. Get on their website- www.ramclutches.com and get their number. If you talk to a guy named Mike let him no that we sent you there. BTW, RAM is a sponsor on my car. I'm using the full metal faced race clutch in mine with SHO Shop billet flywheel. Very agressive but very fun too! Ask my poor wheel hub that I broke at Gingerman! LOL

I used a Sachs Super set on my old 280hp 3L and it held up for the most part. I wasn't until after about 12K miles that it started to slip a little. But at the same time I had tuned the engine a little more so that slip might have acutally been caused by the engines higher output.

That Sach's cluch is a good deal if you ask me!

I don't want to get the stock clutch but I would rather get an aftermarket clutch that has proven itself worthy in other Contours. I don't want a pure racing clutch. I'm not taking it to the strip. I just want something that will have a better "grab" than the stock clutch. Keep in mind the funds are low. I'm planning on buying the clutch and having a local shop do the install.

Another question. Does anyone have any idea on how involved replacing the clutch is on an SVT? I mean, do they have to completely remove the entire transmission. I just don't want any hidden charges and I don't want to go into this blind folded. This is a lot of money for me so I want to make sure I'm getting the right part for my needs.. Thanks guys..

First off the labor is 'in the ballpark' ok, too many smart a**es keep knocking down labor charges..for a clutch or trans work you are always around the $1000 labor...who cares if I only take 2 1/2 hrs to drop it out etc...BTW I want to see some of our DIY 'experts' on video do this !...as to clutch choice ,drive as many 'types' as you can ,clutch feel etc is a personal thing so dot jump too quick and dont take all that the suppliers say as gospel... wink

I got my CenterForce Dual Friction for about $400 from a local dealer (read:no shipping). It claims to be 90% more grip than stock. I love it so far.
I personally avoid SPMotorsports at all costs, for that same reason. I hate companies that make it hard to do business. I have paid $20 bucks more, in the past, just to get a living and breathing person that will answer the goddam phone.

If it's any consolation, I'm going to take pictures of the whole clutch job. I going to tackle a front wheel bearing job first thing tomorrow and I'll be taking pics of that as well. Gotta love the digital camera..
Who should I send the pics to? I don't wanna put them on a website because I'm not good with that stuff.. Maybe they can get posted somewhere for all CEGers.. Wish me luck!!

I got the Grizzly Street Clutch (kevlar pucks) which I guess is no longer available. A bit harsh on engagement, and only 13k miles on it, but she still seems happy. I had the local tranny shop do mine (one of those mom and pop been in business over 30 years at same location deals), finished it up in about 7-8 hours (drop it off before work, picked it up after) and charged like $580 IIRC. They said I got a great deal, as it was a major PITA but they weren't going to jack up the original quote they gave me.

You can get the SVT disc, PP, and TOB from fordpartsonline.com for like $290, which is going to be damn hard to beat anywhere. At least you know exactly what you are getting with that.

154hp / 156 tq before the SVT exhaust, SVT dual honed upper and swapping the mystery main cat for mystery precats.
