FYI: I'm talking about removing the plastic clip that connects the cable to the secondary linkage, not the electrical clip to the IMRC box. wink

You should be able to reach it, but you might have to remove you intake piping to see what you're doing. It's been so long since I've had secondaries, I can't really remember...

Disconnect the plastic clip from the secondary actuator. MIL should light up during your first drive. wink [/b]
(edit - good man Brad wink )
DO NOT disconnect the IMRC box. This will instantly send your car into limp mode.
It will even override a chip!

Limp mode = flatline advance and fuel cut. (I have graphs for this too laugh )

To get the CEL you want "P1518" just disconnect the return spring. Rev the engine above 4000rpm. Shut engine off. Start it up and the CEL will be there automatically.

Well, I replaced the butterflies with some better screws and some thread lock. I did it, this time, off of the car. I pulled the LIM off and scrubbed it down. It is pretty clean now. When I went to the track with the LIM Butterflies off, I could hardly get out of my own way. Even with all of my mods, I was running 15.9's. That is sad when I ran a 15.2 stock with a K+N Drop-in! Oh well. Maybe this mod would be better in a 3.0L or with a more massaged UIM.

PO-JAY, did you "optimize" the butterflies? I think that would be a good idea for anyone not willing to lose low end power.

Po PO I don't know exactly what you did but I love my car with no secondary butterflies as apposed to with. My car pulls just as much low as it did before if not more but top end is fantastic.

Thanks,
Eric

Run .002 - IMRC siezed shut
Run .003 - IMRC pinned open
Run .004 - IMRC working.

Does this help? (non-SVT, 2.5L)

Mods: ST200 UIM, optimized TB (SVT), KKM, ram-air (fed with fan), 2.5" exhaust.

That dyno chart makes me think that it would be better to open the secondaries below the current 3400 RPMs. The crossover at 3250 indicates that you will get a benefit up to this RPM if you open them sooner. Too bad you don't have numbers down to about 1500 RPMS, as that would give an indication of just where to open them. I'd like to know so I can get a chip custom programmed...

I'd also like to see a chart with cracked secondaries.
