However, I believe one of the three cats you thought was a cat is actually a collector. But listen here, you can't have a total of six inches of exhaust (considering the dual exhaust)as you do need some back pressure or you will blow seals and what not. So, the three inches becomes 2.5 inches after the flowmaster y-pipe which is located right before the independent suspension for a total of 5 inches of exhaust clearance for fumes. The sound is much more that of a rally car. I swear to God...no rasp. By definition rasp is an awful sound like that of someone in your back seat blowing through a trumpet all day and rattling a can of marbles. This systems' sound is identical to that of some top rally cars. If you were to get headers ... oh my! The stock exhaust manifolds are as ugly as they get.
I want to thank you for brightening my day! I have spent the entire day wet sanding and am tired and sore, then I crawl in here and look around the board and here you are. Saying such funny things making me laugh. laugh I too am concerned about not having enough backpressure in my exhaust, it is awfully hard on the seals as you mentioned and everybody knows that once the seals are gone your muffler bearings will soon follow. Thanks man! LOL. laugh laugh :p

A high-velocity "O" pipe will ensure sufficient backpressure... wink

Ok... I get the point. I guess I let this get to my head. Forget I ever even mentioned it. But, if anyone could answer my question concerning the PCM, I would appreciate it. Oh and RedSVT, were laughing together my friend. "I've been wet sanding all day." Cry my a river big boy. I rebuilt an entire Chevy Nova SS front end from parts I found in junk yard. That means adjusting the body panels, reinstalling a radiator support, using a cutting torch, wet sanding and installing all badges. But you and your sander are really impressive.

the truth is no backpressure will contribute to the lose of low end torque, but for those considering open exaust on a high peek engine such as the duratec or zetec torque is not much of a concern

Is back pressure bad when you want to decrease valve overlap?

Back pressure is bad...period...,If it was such a 'power giver' we should all be fitting '0-10psi' gages in the exhaust system and using restrictor plates to change the size of the pipe to gain backpressure and 'power'....NOT !!!!!
