All depends on your usage, but that interval shouldn't be a problem unless you do all city driving or drive in dusty areas, etc. And changing the filter at 3K is completely unnecessary unless the above is true.

Might want to get an oil analysis done - that will give you a good idea of how your oil is holding up and you can make a decision from there.



I'd definitely get an oil analysis done. It's the only way to be certain that YOUR car doesn't have an issue. That's why you probably won't find to many mileage recommendations; from engine type to driving conditions there are FAR too many variables.
