You should never touch a dogs nose (in that manner), it is more sensitive than you could ever imagine. We have never had a dog bite in our household, and the dogs have never been punished physically, tied up, or confined as punishment.

Very good advice! Also it is not a potty training issue but labs LOVE to chew, so be prepared for that.




I know exactly how sensitive a dog's nose is and will never hit it hard. But it damn sure get's them trained good. Dogs, by nature, are wild animals. You think you can bring an animal into your house and not train it and it be perfect?

Again, a quick, soft tap is enough to let them know right from wrong. Dogs are just like kids. It works the same. Spankings work. My dogs don't bite. I don't bite. And my dogs have more respect for our family and are VERY loyal than you can imagine. I also have more respect for people than most the kids you see coming outta houses these days. You see them not saying yes sir or yes mam. Or thank you and your welcome. I do all of that, I don't bite, and I'm not afraid of anything. Take your psychology elsewhere. What works, WORKS. People doing studies are looking for a certain conclusion and will always "find" that desired outcome. You have to try yourself to figure out what is best. My family and I have. Obviously there is no convincing anybody. I just watched my neighbors dogs break outta their fences and I try to catch them so they don't get run over but they try biting me. Ooo and they were never "physically punished". Naw, but they're great dogs.

Experience is the only way you can ever truly learn anything.
