I seriously doubt the updated pan helps....the small added baffels in the updated pans are NOTHING compared to the baffeling/punched out capacity done by Mirko, Roush (for the Bondurant cars) & those cars STILL failed in the turns until Accusump added. Reason is oil is held in the head secondary to need for an additional drainback (that the 3L has). Pan is not the problem..

Accusump = effective.
Full 3L = effective.
Running a full 6.0 quarts in the sump AND avoiding long hard right turns (especially offramps) WITH high engine revs (ie. take her out of second and let the revs drop to 2000) OR sustained high revs..probably effective (I suspect).

If memory serves, it is not near as high as 5000K, as one would like to believe... I am referencing a post made by DemonSVT and his statement, paraphrased, was that it was in the lower range... something like "and I'm not talking about redline... 3000-3500, people.." IIRC, he also referenced his "ideal" turn for this demise to be made to the likes of a cloverleaf onramp..

I belive this was in reference to his own engine demise, and if this was not the case then it was still in reference to a personally known engine..

6 Qts.... Accusump.... I always though it in neutral, or a WAY higher gear than needed (5th at 30, or 35mph, if doing a sweeping right turn that will allow my car to continue to progress through the turn due to gravity, etc)

Man, I couldnt disagree with you more on this. Hard driving is the purpose for which this car and other high performance cars were built. The fact that my so called high performance car can't take a sweeping right hand curve which an altima can do with no problem indicates a real problem with the vehicle, but does not indicate abuse.

That's pretty much how I feel too.

The only domestic worth buying imo is GM. They may be behind the curve on most things but they're damned reliable.

Oh well, hopefully the BMW 130 isn't priced too out of this world ...

People who raced the cars on a track have had the problem and also "driving hard" is a general term. I'd say if you drive the car "hard", then expect issues to come up. "Hard driving" = abuse.

If someone rolls a Tour at a track and totals the car, is it Ford's fault?

You split up my term wrong I said "driving hard to the right," meaning "driving, hard to the right" as in making a sharp right turn. Although I do understand your point too, 5000 (or was it 5500?) RPMs generally signals what people around here like to refer to as "spirited driving" .. which can be taken as abuse

Redline is well over 6000 rpm. Running the car well within its designed limits is NOT abuse. It's making use of the performance.

Used to have one of those clover interchanges nearby & I ran my Mazdas through those & had LOADS of fun doing it. Never damaged the car. Run any V-6 Contique through there & you get oil starvation & engine damage. Sounds like a design flaw to me...

Add to that the fact that Ford redesigned the oil pan, what, about 4 times. Ford also has different oil return setup in the heads of the 3L version of what is essentially the SAME block. Looks like they were making changes for some reason. What do you suppose that reason might have been??

C'mon back to the real world please.

That is exactly the situation that caused my engine damage.

i dont how long this takes but my engine has 120k+ and i drive it like it was meant to be driven,i.e hard through corners....and i havent had anything happen yet...although it would be the perfect excuse to finally get that 3L done
