In any duratec (2.5, that is), run 6 qts.. some have even run 6.5qts...
this is even if you DONT run an accusump or equiv..

Don't run enough oil in an engine prone to oil starvation tendencies and had one go bad...
Factory fill specification is 5.8qts. In independant testing that was proving insufficient at very high rpm. As in the oil pan basically ran dry! This did not take into account G forces which would significantly lower the rpm threshold.
Using common sense the SVT fill factor "should" be higher but we all know Ford had their hand in it so it remained the same even though they added an oil cooler and lines. That may not sound like a lot of volume to fill but even 10-16 oz is a great deal of oil when the pan is near empty.
The "recommended" fill amount is 6-6.5qts. That does help but it still is not a "cure all" for the starvation problem.

It is a design flaw in the engine.. not a circumstantial flaw of the driver. (though driving in a different style CAN change the odds.... technically...)
either don't take long sweeping turns to the right, at least not with the revs anywhere near 3.5 or higher...
or install the accusump/etc, and run more oil...
Ray
ah I understand what it does... if I ever get a duratec engine, I will get an accusump then... Thanks for the great info

On the SVT dipstick where will 6 and 6.5qts read respectivly in regards to the "max fill"line??
Mine is RIGHT AT the max line...should I throw a little more in for good measure??

i know what the accumsump is for and i have seen the updated oil pan that is sold by BAT. the accusump seems ideal but is pricey, is using the oil pan enough? should both be used? please advise.

Is this right?? I know its better to have a little bit more oil then less oil but a full quart over "max line"?? I don't want to break any seals or gaskets etc. Can anyone else verify this?

This is making me wonder as well. I am having visions of the crank sloshing about in a sea of oil beathing it to a creamy froth ....

Here's a simple way to tell if that is right...
The first poster is "right at the max line"...
He is using 5Qts, (correct???)
If he is using 5 Qts, and that puts it to the MAX line, and the recommended fill is 6-6.5 qts
then one qt over MAX is 6..
