Don't run enough oil in an engine prone to oil starvation tendencies and had one go bad...

Factory fill specification is 5.8qts. In independant testing that was proving insufficient at very high rpm. As in the oil pan basically ran dry! This did not take into account G forces which would significantly lower the rpm threshold.

Using common sense the SVT fill factor "should" be higher but we all know Ford had their hand in it so it remained the same even though they added an oil cooler and lines.
That may not sound like a lot of volume to fill but even 10-16 oz is a great deal of oil when the pan is near empty.

The "recommended" fill amount is 6-6.5qts. That does help but it still is not a "cure all" for the starvation problem.

2000 SVT #674 13.47 @ 102 - All Motor! It was not broke; Yet I fixed it anyway.
