yeah, most folks don't understand automotive target setting, and planning for upgrades later to keep the car interesting as it ages.
If the Contour had lived past the 2000 model year, the SVT more than likely would have gotten a 3L at its next freshening. The Mondeo ST220 is tangible proof of that I think.

Never mind the past and "if only", the SVT branding is planned to expand, not go away as some think.
The Fusion is bigger than the Mazda also, so maybe a 3.5L V6 could be in an SVT version.

We could only hope.
If Motor Trend or whoever else wants to see the MS6 turbo 2.3 engine in the fusion, let me tell you what I want. The 3.5L Duratec in a lowered, blacked-out, 18" wheeled, brembo braked, true dual exaust, naturally aspirated, limited production SVT Fusion.
From the very first day I heard mention of a 3.5L Duratec and a concept car called the Futura, I knew that this would be a killer combination. Ford should stop making cars if they do not come to the same conclusion. Now, I just have to save my pennies in the hopes that one day they will make my dream a reality.

I would like a 3.5 Fusion SVT too. Maybe I'll settle for a 3.5 conversion for my Contour SVT.

I read that they were gonna put it in the Zephyr, the 3.5 that is.....that would be pretty cool with 2 wheel drive...too bad the interior is so grandpaish though.

There is a brotha in the house. Hallelujah. Miller knows what Im talking about it. Yes I understand the aging if vehicles and the things they do to upgrade them and lift interest over the years. If that was the case the turbo-4 for a few years then the 3.5 liter later on so be it. But Id wait for the 3.5 liter. My 2.5's ability is amazing, and I know the output for such a small engine is world class. It may not be Ferrari 110 per liter, but its 80 per liter is better than a lot of other cars on the road. Everytime I get in my car I love it....even at 5 years old. I just hope for the next version to be as passionate not just some watered down Mazda.
