German hefeweizen is my fav all time beer. So good in the summer. I can't stand Blue Moon, but it does need a lemon, I would never put a lemon in my hefeweizen.
It's a Texas thing.

Personal preference: after a long day, nothing beats an ice cold Corona Extra with a lime...nothing.
But a proper black and tan is two beers. The ale and poter you chose are up to personal choice. I prefer Bass and Guinness for my B&T's.
Pale Ale and Stout (not porter) is the generally accepted combo.

I love draft cider. Strongbow is really good, but I'll take Woodchuck because it is often all I can find. Ace is a good Oregon pear cider as well.
Interesting on Bittberger. I had some at a German restaurant, and I liked it. It has an astringency we don't see much, but I didn't think it was bitter.
I'm just glad nobody said Heineken... enjoy your canal water.

Bloody hell ... these are drinks I'd forgotten about ... miss them lots, and a good old fashioned "swift 'alf" down the pub at lunch time ... Light & Bitter please, John!

Try the Guinness Extra Stout. I can't stand the flat pub draft crap either.
I don't like Beer [flame suit on] but I had Guinness on tap in Ireland (Rep.) and I Liked it. But I come back to Canada and it tastes like crap! That little wigget or whatever it is to keep the Head doesn't help for freshness.
PS: A Glass is Mandatory if you want to drink it btw.

That is soooooo true!! I spent some years travelling to Dublin and it is just so different. Same about many real 'beers' ... outside of their local area they taste different.
PS: 3 Guinness is the break-point

That is because they have to ship it. I've been told by a friend in Liverpool that Guinness tastes better in the US than it does in the UK. They have different methods of shipping the black stuff. Keep in mind Guinness Extra Staut is made in Canada for the NA market.
