If you're running an open element filter that you have to oil up, the MAF can get a bit of oil onto it rather quickly. I'll assume you're running a stock intake...
No CEL of any kind make me think you have the occasional misfire. The Contour engines are particualarly sensitive to the plugs & wires you use. I hope you have stock Motorcraft for both. That will be a good starting place.
