Im going to have my v6 95 mtx contour's transmission fluid replaced in a half hour. I bought the highest quality atx fluid (royal purple synthetic) exceeds modil 1. But my question is do i still need to add the ford friction reducer to this synthetic fluid?? THanks for your respone, Dave

Yes. Your local ford dealer should carry it. Otherwise the same sort of stuff is available at GM. Ask them for their MTX additive. I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't the same stuff, just in a GM bottle!

regardless of which fluid you choose to go with based on price and performance, you are required to have the additive in there... certain fluids are sold premixed with the additive, but whether you choose that one, or one you need to add yourself.. the end result is the same.

I just called ford and they said they have no idea what the mtx additive is.. What do i do?
