Well, sorta made by Cisco. Cisco purchased Linksys to enter the home and SoHo market. They only changes made to the actual devices is the Cisco logo on in the GUI. No hardware design changes, other than products slated to come out soonly.
By that token, the Linky WRT54G is the de-facto standard G router out on the market now (at least I think so). They are totally hackable and I have had nothing but great luck with Linky products for the past 10 years. Look into the the HyperWRT firmware for the WRT54G/GS. It has some cool features like QoS that I use for my VoIP phone. It can also boost the power output of the unit, just don't go past 80% or the router will overheat and reload itself. As for the disconnects, it could be a firmware bug (which Linksys has since corrected) or it could be something with the Windows Wireless Zero configuration.
