About to make the MSDS/Bassani purchase...
Would wrapping the headers make any significant difference in performance due to the lack of engine bay heat and better exhaust scavenging, or would it just lead to a shorter header life due to the increased retained heat?
I figure some of the better engine gurus (Haines, Nixon, et al..) would be "in the know" laugh

There was a thread on this a week or two ago. I think most people considered it a waste of money because it didn't seem to help much.

It also voids the MSDS warranty and the amount of heat retained by the rap acan crack the headers!

Don't wrap the headers unless they are stainless. Sure, it might be good for short term, but the headers will rust out much more quickly. You'd be better off getting them JetHot coated or some other kind of thermal coating. They come from MSDS with some kind of ceramic coating, I think.

I triple painted my SHM headers with hi temp ceramic coating paint; as a result, doing this has dropped oil temps dramatically and all of the moisture from my exhaust components now comes out my magnaflows.

Exactly; Do Not wrap them!

Yes they do come with a ceramic coating. An "upgraded" version compared to the older white looking ones.
The new coating looks like a cross between jet hot & silver powder coating.

I too gave mine a few extra coats of 1200 degree high temp paint with ceramic for good measure.

Do not skip the curing instructions either...
