b@stard, you should get a solitaire ring. I prefer the Princess cut myself. The Marquis cut looks too 80's and the traditional diamond cut is played out. A nice variation of the Princess cut is the Pillow Cut, similar in that it is square, but with chamfered edges.
Look at spending around $3k minimum, and don't necessarily focus on size, because if the clarity and color is wrong, people will see it. Nothing is worsethan a 1ct diamond with a piece of fly-sh!t in the middle. :blackeye;
and yo want a ring that you baby is going to look at and love, and thus think of you. Not look at, think you're a cheap
