Those graphs are confusing in B & W! I do not understand how the Monster flow is supposed to be making more tourque but less HP at low RPM??? I though they were directly related.. And I do not see why a filter that flows better would result in less power down low but more at higher RPM. K&N & KKM gives gains across the rev range. I understand little about A/F regulation by EEC-V but why would the computer be able to compensate at high RPM flow rates but not low??. At face value, both filters give about same area under the curve HP & tourque values (though I would rather have the more useful high RPM power). Micah do you have the dyno showing that A/F tuning was able to compensate for low RPM tourque loss with your AFE?? In view of these dynos, I think that is important.

Offer stands to compare K&N and AFE head to head in a few months.. I want the best filter myself. laugh
Dan if you look at the chart you will see the AFE has a big HP advantage over the Monster Flow from start to finish. The initial high blimp at 2.0-2.5 is the AFE Filter, not the Monster Flow, the only place where the Monster Flow showed some recovery was at 3700-4400 RPM. As far as the Tq curve, there can be numerous factors also including ECU. I don't know if John reset his computer prior to changing over to the AFE while dynoing, but that's a definate must as I found out with my Roar to AFE conversion. I felt there shouldn't have been much of any difference in airflow between the two, wasn't the case, the AFE was flowing much more than the Roar (by airflow readings on SAFC) that after I resetted the computer the difference was immediately noticeable. Dan I personally felt a definatel lag in the lowend on my car prior to resetting the ECU, but after I reset the computer overnight, traction was an issue!

Dan think about this for a second, if the Monster Flows flow capabilities are not the greatest, when the secondaries open up the demand for air will increase nearly twofold and will have less an ability to keep up with the demand, the AFE has no problem with that, in fact that was top priority in it's design. The Charts are real, the dyno was real and there's no ?ing a dyno, especially a reputable one. Just keep in mind that if the ECU wasn't reset for the AFE, that could be the answer right there as well and so the charts are really inaccurate as numbers would have definately been higher all around for the AFE...Sorry for the long Post cool
